Position Purpose
The data insights specialist is primarily responsible for research, data collection, analysis and evaluation in support of Great Plains Food Bank’s network of partner agencies, programs, new initiatives, and community-based solutions to address hunger and its root causes. The data insights specialist will also manage a client data system with a diverse network of partner agencies. Core Accountabilities and Essential Duties
1. Client Data System Management
The data insights specialist leads all efforts to operationalize a unified, client database system with the Great Plains Food Bank’s network of partners and programs to ensure our network has accurate, real-time data about the clients served.
· Develops short and long term project strategy and executes on activities with adherence to budget, timeline, and organizational goals.
· Secures, trains and supports partners who utilize intake tool.
· Identifies ongoing funding in support of client data system.
2. Research, Evaluation, and Analysis
The data insights specialist is responsible for planning and managing projects that deliver strategic insight, improvements in client outcomes, and impact evaluation.
· Manages timeline, budget, resources, tools, and collaboration (if relevant) for execution of research studies end to end.
· Supports partner and program evaluation, streamlining data collection and analysis.
· Collaborates on written or visual reports communicating methods, findings, and other relevant information.
3. Capacity Building
The data insights specialist supports the organization in streamlining data collection and analysis across all departments to ensure continuity and accuracy.
· Supports data requests for fundraising, strategic tracking, and other organizational needs.
· Provides subject matter expertise for client data collection efforts.
· Implements quality control practices to ensure organizational data has high fidelity and transparency.
· Leverages data visualization tools to support GPFBs internal and external communication.
Education, Experience and Requirements
Successful candidates for this position must hold a Bachelor’s degree in related field with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management, program evaluation, and research methods. Experience in database systems and data analytics preferred. Valid driver’s license, ability to travel statewide and flexibility to attend meetings and events in evenings and/or on weekends required.
Skills and Competencies
· Strong communicator that possesses excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Tableau, Service Insights on MealConnect, and related applications.
· Experience with formal and community based participatory research methods
· Critical thinking skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
· Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multi-faceted demands and deadlines
· Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
· Strong customer service skills and willingness to assist others
