Dear Friends,
As we step into 2024, we at the Great Plains Food Bank are excited to look toward the future as I’m sure many of our friends and neighbors are doing the same.
Over our 40-year history, we have been fortunate to have so many of our friends generously donate to the Great Plains Food Bank’s annual fund, helping to fill the immediate food needs for our 144,000 North Dakota neighbors who seek food assistance from us each year. . I can’t thank you enough for your support!
As we work to end hunger today, tomorrow and for good, I’m writing to ask for your continued and future support to help the one in six of our neighbors struggling with hunger.
Planned gifts are truly an impactful way to leave a legacy you can be proud of, knowing that your generosity today will have a tremendous impact on ending hunger tomorrow and long into the future. Transformational planned gifts come from a variety of family assets such as mineral interests, estate plans and retirement accounts (IRA). With these gifts, you can move us closer than we’ve ever been to a hunger-free North Dakota and Clay County Minnesota.

It brings me such joy and assurance knowing that in partnership with donors like you, the Great Plains Food Bank is setting up a strong financial foundation for the future, much like you’ve done with your family’s financial planning.
In this issue of Leave a Legacy, you will read the story of the Carlson family and why they have chosen to support the Great Plains Food Bank, using their required minimum distribution from a retirement account. Gifts like this help to end hunger, decrease family tax obligations, and create a strong family legacy.
Shirley Carlson shared, “They [Great Plains Food Bank] makes good use of the resources and they help the community.” Thank you for trusting us and investing in this important work Shirley.
