Charles’ biggest goal in life is to create stability for his family of five. To him, stability means caring for and supporting his children and their dreams of a happy, successful life.
Looking toward the future can be hard for the family after tragically losing his wife, the children’s mother, to COVID-19 last year. He is doing everything possible to care for his four children since the devastating loss, but things are different now.
“They still miss Mom at night,” he shares.
With his children’s futures in mind, Charles returned to school to get a degree in culinary arts. Unable to secure reliable childcare, he was forced to leave school and the family lost campus housing.
For 10 months, they lived without a home. Now, after finally finding an apartment for his family, Charles hopes to return to school and obtain a degree in a new field — such as welding or criminal justice, he says.
For now, Charles is grateful for friends like you who make it possible for his family to access a hot meal at the Soup Café in Bismarck, a partner meal site supplied by the Great Plains Food Bank. It makes a big difference for Charles and Magaju.
“The food [here] is good,” Charles says gratefully.
Thank you for your support helping end hunger today, tomorrow and for good!
Charles’ youngest, Magaju, enjoys a lunch made possible by partners like you.
“The food [here] is good.”
