At just one year old, Erick is all too familiar with doctors’ offices and medical procedures. Thanks to your generosity, he has nutritious food to fuel his health and growth.
We met Erick with his mom, Jenae, at the Great Plains Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry in Valley City.
Jenae had a career in retail management until becoming a mom. With her husband working in building maintenance at Valley City State University, Jenae left her job to be at home with their son full time.
Shortly after Erick was born, the couple discovered he had an eye condition. His treatments are ongoing — and so are the bills.
“We just have a ton of medical bills,” Jenae says.
Thankfully, Jenae can turn to the Great Plains Food Bank to supplement her family’s food budget.
“With this and a paycheck, we are able to get by,” she says.
In fact, your generosity has inspired Jenae and her husband to pay it forward in the future.
“I’m very thankful to anyone that donates so people like me, and those in worse situations, are able to come and get food,” she says. “And when we get in a better situation, we will be able to help out as well.”

Jenae and her son Erick are grateful for nutritious food to help them get by.
