One thing Raven Heart hopes she never has to encounter is to be paid a visit from her 15 grandchildren and she has no food for them. When things get tough from time to time, that is where the Great Plains Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry has helped her to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Raven is 75 years old and lives alone. Her grandchildren are often there to visit during the weekends and often arrive hungry. She loves being able to provide them something to eat when they arrive. This isn’t always an easy task as she lost both the jobs she was working due to COVID last March. Since then, she hasn’t had a steady income nor any other assistance, which can make providing meals challenging.
When the mobile food pantry stops in her town, she makes sure to utilize it as it is a huge help in providing her and her family with the food they need. Raven especially loves the fresh produce that is provided as well as the meat.
“This is one less thing to worry about,” she says with some relief. “The food really does help.”
