Donation to provide more than 171,765 meals to feed children and families in need
FARGO, N.D. – Longtime champions in the fight to end hunger, the John Deere Foundation has made another generous donation to the Great Plains Food Bank that will assist efforts to end childhood hunger throughout North Dakota and Clay County, Minn. The $57,255 gift is enough to provide 171,765 meals for children and families in need.
Specifically, the donation will support a trio of Great Plains Food Bank childhood hunger programs – Youth Summer Meals Program, BackPack Program and School Pantry Program – to help feed hungry children and families. Past Great Plains Food Bank Hunger Relief Champion award winner, the John Deere Foundation has now donated more than $330,000 to the Great Plains Food Bank since 2015.
“The John Deere Foundation consistently shows its loyalty to helping feed those in need within the communities they serve,” Great Plains Food Bank CEO Melissa Sobolik said. “This generous donation is going to ensure there will be food on the table tonight for hungry children and families in the region. We would like to thank the John Deere Foundation for all they do to help in our mission.”
“We are grateful Great Plains Food Bank is serving our home communities of Fargo and Valley City through food. For 186 years, John Deere has manufactured equipment and technology to help the world grow food, but Great Plains Food Bank is a critical organization in the food systems value chain to save and rescue this food to ensure everyone has food on the table,” said Nate Clark, President John Deere Foundation.
