YOU PUT HEALTHY FOOD ON A FAMILY’S TABLE
Erica’s family has been at home in their Northeastern Dakota community ever since moving there a few years ago. And thanks to friends like you, they can look forward to brighter days ahead, despite an especially difficult year.
Erica’s husband serves as pastor in a rural community. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, his job made it possible for Erica to stay home with their kids and have enough money to meet all the family’s needs.
But since the pandemic began, “things got a little tight,” Erica explains. Though the church has since returned to in-person services, many in the congregation are struggling financially, which means giving has slowed.
In the meantime, the family has had some unexpected health expenses, causing an increased burden on their already stretched budget.
That’s why they are especially grateful they found out about the Great Plains Food Bank’s Mobile Food Pantry that visits a nearby community.
Erica and her friend loaded their kids in the car and made the trip together on a rainy afternoon to access food assistance for their families.
At that first visit, Erica and her kids went home with fresh fruits and vegetables, canned goods, milk and loaves of bread to help stock their shelves.
Erica says it may be awhile before her family will be back on their feet again and she is grateful for the food she receives to help provide for her children. Thanks to friends like you, she can keep enough healthy food on the table.
Thank you for the generosity you show, especially as kids go back to school in the wake of the pandemic.
