“This year, this food is going to be vitally important.”
–Eleanor
After living and working in north-central North Dakota for more than 50 years, Eleanor has strong ties to the community she loves dearly.
Eleanor is a retired nurse who we met while she was accessing food in Rugby, ND.
“If this wasn’t available, I don’t know what the alternative would be,” she says.
Eleanor explains that a good harvest is essential to the economic health of the community, but drought and other hardships over the last couple of years have resulted in food shortages and price increases.
“This year, this food is going to be vitally important,” Eleanor says of the food you help make available through your generosity.
She only visits the distribution when her Social Security income doesn’t stretch all the way through the month. Eleanor is also quick to help her neighbor who has difficulty getting out, by picking up food for her as well.
“Keep giving, please,” she urges. “It’s more important than ever.”
Thank you for helping provide nutritious food for our senior neighbors who made our North Dakota and western Minnesota what it is today. Your generosity is building healthier, happier communities for all ages.

Eleanor waits to receive food from the Great Plains Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry in her hometown of Rugby, ND.
