Cora has always prioritized healthy food for her family over less expensive, processed meals. Thanks to you, she doesn’t have to sacrifice nutritious food now that her budget has tightened.
“As a mother, I’m very thankful for this food,” Cora says.
Cora is the mother of 8-year-old twins, Karter and Genah. The two share a birthday but are very different when it comes to their favorite things. Karter loves math, basketball and video games while Genah loves soccer and art.
Luckily, both kids enjoy the food the family receives through a food pantry supplied by the Great Plains Food Bank. We met Cora there on her second visit.
“We’re short on money,” Cora explains. “We need food.”
Cora currently works full-time as a manager at a fast-food restaurant while also taking online secondary education classes. Her parents both died when she was just 16 years old, and she dropped out of school soon after.
Recently, Cora’s partner developed some health problems and had to stop working. She says the family was managing financially until then. When her children commented that there wasn’t enough food at home, Cora knew she had to get help.
“When the kids tell me, ‘I need food’, it’s horrible,” she says.
Thank you for your gifts that help ensure families like Cora’s have access to nutritious food to fuel each day. You are building a healthier, happier community for us all
