Child & Senior Hunger Program Manager

Position Purpose
The senior and child hunger manager is responsible for supporting the goals and objectives of the Great Plains Food Bank through strengthening the presence of child and senior programs while coordinating programmatic elements statewide. This position will build high quality relationships with child and senior feeding programs, and develop new partnerships to establish a broad presence and increased services throughout the state. Additionally, this position will monitor for program compliance and food safety in line with Great Plains Food Bank, Feeding America, and USDA standards. Core Accountabilities and Essential Duties

1. Community Engagement
The child and senior hunger manager builds and strengthens relationships in communities across the Great Plains Food Bank service area.

  • Conduct outreach initiatives to engage new childhood hunger partners, while coordinating with the Partner Network team to bring on new sites including training and compliance.
  • Conduct senior hunger outreach initiatives to engage new partners and clients.
  • Forges and strengthens relationships and collaborative partnerships with community organizations and key stakeholders.
  • Participates in targeted community activities, events and meetings.
  • Educates communities and persons through presentations and public speaking events.

2. Program Coordination
The child and senior hunger manager contributes to food distribution through managing and administering child and senior programs.

  • Manage child hunger programs, ensuring performance standards are met for backpack, school pantry, and summer meals programs, including relationship management, paperwork, reporting, and programmatic execution requirements.
  • Manages internal program delivery success including product procurement, inventory, and process management.
  • Mentors potential partners in establishing new community feeding programs.
  • Develops and delivers program specific required training and hosts partner meetings.
  • Manage senior hunger programs, ensuring performance standards are met for the USDA Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) including relationship management, paperwork, reporting, and programmatic execution requirements.
  • Assist with the research, expansion, and implementation of new programs under the supervision of Programs and Partner Network Director

3. Documentation and Record Keeping
The child and senior hunger manager maintains communication with programmatic partners, ensuring proper recording of statistics while ensuring compliance with organization and federal regulations.

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation files for child and senior programs by ensuring all documentation is included and updated.
  • Trains, coaches and follows-up with program champions on statistic reporting.
  • Collects, records and tracks timely service statistics for programs.

4. Other

  • Attends internal meetings as required.
  • Assists in strategic planning, visioning and budgeting on an annual basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Requirements
Successful candidates for this position will hold a Bachelor’s degree in related field with 2 years’ prior related work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in social services, outreach, project management and community collaborations are a plus. Valid driver’s license, ability to travel statewide and flexibility to attend meetings and events in evenings and/or on weekends required.
