FARGO, N.D. – NextERA Energy Resources, through the NextEra Energy Foundation, has made a substantial commitment to the fight to end hunger with a $25,000 to the Great Plains Food Bank. The donation will provide needed food assistance for hungry children, seniors and families across North Dakota and western Minnesota.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the significant donation from NextEra Energy Resources, which services 37 states across the country including North Dakota and Minnesota, will be put to use at a critical time for the Great Plains Food Bank as the organization works to serve an increased number of individuals that find themselves in need of emergency food assistance.
“Our mission is to end hunger through community partnerships and this is a great example of an organization generously stepping up during a crucial time,” Great Plains Food Bank President Melissa Sobolik said. “We are so incredibly grateful to NextEra Energy Resources and the NextEra Energy Foundation for their generosity. Thanks to them, many families won’t have to worry about putting food on their tables. That’s an incredible gift and provides a huge sense of relief for those impacted by this pandemic.”

The donation is part of an overall $1.5 million gift of COVID-19 emergency assistance from the NextEra Energy family of companies for partner organizations across the country. The emergency funds, provided by the NextEra Energy Foundation, will be distributed to organizations working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis to provide critical support to the most vulnerable members of our communities.
