Thomsen Homes announces significant commitment to BackPack Program

FARGO, N.D. – Demonstrating strong support for a hunger-relief program feeding thousands of children each year, Thomsen Homes has announced a significant gift to the Great Plains Food Bank BackPack Program, which serves school-aged kids throughout North Dakota and western Minnesota.

Thomsen Homes will commit $500 per house closing specifically to the BackPack Program, which is enough to supply 100 backpacks and fund nearly three children for an entire year for each home closed. The donation will help to supply thousands of backpacks annually to children in need.

“This is an unbelievable commitment from Thomsen Homes to help support one of our most vital programs,” Great Plains Food Bank CEO Steve Sellent said. “This commitment will help to insure that thousands of children each year will have food to eat on those long weekends when school lunches aren’t available. We thank Thomsen Homes for making such a strong contribution to the fight to end hunger.”

“Over the past 10 years, Thomsen Homes has been proud to build quality homes for individuals and families to call home. We are grateful for all of those who have trusted us to make their dreams come true and make a difference in the lives of not only our home buyers, but all those in various communities we serve. We have a passion to enrich the lives of all those we interact with and one way we can do that is through giving back. We know it is our responsibility to help make our communities a better place to live and helping those who may not be able to help themselves, so partnering with Great Plains Food Bank BackPack Program was just a natural fit,” said Chris Thomsen, Founder and CEO of Thomsen Homes.

Each year more than 33,000 kids throughout North Dakota qualify for and greatly rely on the free and reduced cost school lunch program. In 2016 alone, the Great Plains Food Bank supplied more than 112,000 backpacks throughout North Dakota and western Minnesota, which supplies milk, juice, snacks and food for three meals for one weekend.
